FixedStar was founded in 2006 — in the same year our twin daughters Alma and Lilly were born. Some things you simply don’t plan. They just belong together.
Where it started
A scene that wanted more.
Back then, the European singlespeed and fixed gear scene was in a very different phase. A lot came from the US: loud components, unusual colours, more than a little bling.
That’s exactly the world FixedStar grew out of. We imported parts from America, went looking for products you could barely get here — and from the start we wanted to offer things that were different from the usual bike market.
And pretty quickly it was clear: we didn’t only want to import products. We wanted to make our own.
Alma & Lilly
Our first own products were two rims.
Of course they got the names of our daughters. Alma became the taller rim, with a 40 mm profile. Lilly the lower one, with 30 mm. Somehow it fit perfectly.

Lilly came first.
Alma grew taller.
Lilly was the first-born — but always the smaller of the two. So two rims never became model numbers. They became Alma and Lilly, and since then the two names have belonged to FixedStar.

Not a bike supermarket.
FixedStar grew up in the singlespeed and fixed gear scene, and those roots remain part of the brand. But cycling changed over the years — and FixedStar changed with it.
Today it’s not only about fixed gear. It’s about steel frames, special bikes, rare parts, unusual components and products you don’t find everywhere. Surly. Salsa. Old stock. Small series. Special wheels. One-offs. And of course FixedStar Originals like Alma and Lilly.
We want things that make you stop and think: that’s interesting. You don’t see that everywhere.
Which is why our claim fits what FixedStar has stood for since 2006: Bikes & Parts with Character.
